Gameplay

While performing your Island Challenge, you will encounter the Ultra Recon Squad, travelers from another dimension. Your ultimate mission is to stop the legendary Necrozma—a powerful creature that has invaded Alola to absorb its light and plunge the islands into total darkness.

Region Overview

The world of Alola is much bigger now. You can travel through Ultra Wormholes to visit other dimensions, including the dark Ultra Megalopolis. You can also spend time at the Alola Photo Club to take pictures with your Pokémon or go Mantine Surfing to travel between islands while performing cool tricks.

THREAT ANALYSIS

The threat reaches a legendary level with the appearance of Team Rainbow Rocket. This ultimate villain group is led by Giovanni and features all the previous bosses from past regions (like Maxie, Archie, and Cyrus). They have taken over the Aether Foundation and plan to rule the entire multiverse.

System

This version brings several major upgrades to the Alola experience:

Ultra Warp Ride

Ride on the backs of Solgaleo or Lunala through space to find rare 'Shiny' Pokémon and Legendary Pokémon from every previous generation.

Z-Power Upgrade

New Z-Crystals have been discovered, giving even more Pokémon—including Necrozma and Mimikyu—their own unique and devastating moves.

The Roto Loto

Your Rotom Dex is now more interactive. It can give you special 'Rotom Powers' that help you hatch eggs faster, earn more money, or find rare Pokémon more easily.

Totem Stickers

Find gold stickers hidden across the islands to receive your very own giant-sized Totem Pokémon as partners.
