Gameplay

Set three years after the Kanto incident, the researcher travels across Johto to stop Team Rocket's underground resurgence. The mission concludes with an unprecedented cross-regional operation, leading to a final confrontation with the legendary Trainer Red at Mt. Silver.

Region Overview

Johto Region

Johto is a region steeped in tradition and mythology, featuring the mystical Tin Tower and the Whirl Islands. It serves as a gateway back to the Kanto region, doubling the scope of field observations.

THREAT ANALYSIS

Radio Tower

Team Rocket's remnants attempt to broadcast a signal from the Goldenrod Radio Tower to summon their former leader. Their operations focus on artificial evolution experiments at the Lake of Rage.

New types

To mitigate the unintended dominance of Psychic-type signatures observed during the Kanto Phase (Gen I), the Pokémon core has been updated with two new tactical classifications:

The Steel Type: Engineered for high durability, Steel-type subjects provide critical resistance against Psychic energy and numerous other elemental vectors. Notable reclassification: The Magnemite line is now identified as dual Electric/Steel.

Steel Type

The Dark Type: A specialized classification possessing a complete immunity to Psychic-type waves. Dark-type moves such as Crunch and Faint Attack allow for high-efficiency counters against previously "overpowered" entities.

Friendship

Friendship Friendship

Extending the rudimentary "Pikachu-Bond" discovered in the Yellow Version, Pokémon now implements a global Friendship (Happiness) Index for all captured specimens:

Emotional Synchronization: Data indicates that consistent field presence, successful combat engagement, and proper specimen care increase the "Happiness" vector (scale 0-255).

Evolutionary Catalyst: High levels of neural synchronization now act as the primary trigger for specific high-tier evolutions, most notably the divergent paths of Espeon (Day) and Umbreon (Night).
