Gameplay

The balance of nature is in danger as both Groudon and Kyogre awaken at the same time. Your mission is to climb the Sky Pillar and find the legendary Rayquaza. Only this powerful dragon can descend from the heavens to stop the destructive battle between the land and the sea.

Region Overview

The Hoenn map has expanded! After the main story, you can visit the Battle Frontier—a massive island dedicated to expert trainers with seven unique battle challenges. You can also explore the mysterious Mirage Tower in the desert and use the updated Match Call system to stay in touch with Trainers for rematches.

THREAT ANALYSIS

For the first time, you must fight both Team Magma and Team Aqua simultaneously. Both groups are trying to capture their respective legendary Pokémon, and you are the only one standing in their way to prevent a global environmental disaster.

System

Emerald brings back several fan-favorite features and introduces new ones:

Double Battle Focus

Many more Trainers will now challenge you to 2-vs-2 battles at the same time, testing your tactical skills.

Breeding & Abilities

Special Pokémon Abilities now have effects outside of battle (like helping you find wild Pokémon), and breeding is more detailed for competitive training.

Animated Sprites

Pokémon now move and animate when they first enter a battle, making every encounter feel more energetic.

Deoxys Speed Forme

Data indicates a structural change: Deoxys now engages in its lightning-fast Speed Forme, moving away from the classic Normal Forme found in Ruby and Sapphire.
